DR. GEORGE B. CLAVENNA – DES MOINES AND PLEASANT HILL OPHTHALMOLOGIST

George B. Clavenna, D.O. earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan, followed by two master’s degrees: a Master of Science degree in Biology at Wayne State University and Master of Public Health degree at University of Michigan. He obtained his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri.

Dr. Clavenna is a board-certified ophthalmologist and has been recognized as a national leader in the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. He spent thirty-two years at Des Moines University seeing patients for external and corneal disease, glaucoma, diabetes, oculoplastics and volunteered with Vision Haiti for ten years, treating external diseases, glaucoma, and performing cataract, glaucoma and oculoplastics surgeries. Dr. Clavenna was recently awarded Professor Emeritus from Des Moines University and has been seeing patients at Wolfe Eye Clinic since 2018.

Dr. Clavenna enjoys providing comprehensive specialty eye care to his patients. He finds enhancing his patients’ vision and improving their quality of life particularly rewarding. In his free time, Dr. Clavenna enjoys being a grandfather, watching and marveling at his grandchildren growing up. He also gardens and enjoys photography.
