Retina Specialist Joins Wolfe Eye Clinic

Wolfe Eye Clinic is pleased to welcome Jeong-Hyeon Sohn, M.D. who recently completed his Retina fellowship training at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins, in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Sohn’s practice will focus on diabetic eye disorders, macular degeneration and surgical repair of the retina.

“We are pleased to have Dr. Sohn join the practice,” said Wolfe Eye Clinic surgeon Charles H. Barnes, M.D. “I am confident that he will be an asset to the communities he visits and will provide high quality eye care with personal, caring service.”

Originally from South Korea, Dr. Sohn received his bachelor of sciences degree as well as his doctorate of medicine from Seoul National University, South Korea. Next, he completed an internship and ophthalmology residency at Seoul National University Hospital. He then served as a Uveitis fellow and research associate at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He then worked as a research associate, instructor and ophthalmology resident at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, where he rose to the position of chief resident. Most recently, Dr. Sohn completed a retina fellowship at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins, in Baltimore, Maryland.

“I am very excited to practice with Wolfe Eye Clinic,” states Sohn. “Because of the numerous sub-specialties throughout the group, I feel that together we can address almost any ophthalmology issue and can continue to provide patients with the high quality care Wolfe Eye Clinic is known for.”

Dr. Sohn enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends and participating in athletics and outdoor activities such as swimming and hiking. He and his wife Sarah, reside in Cedar Rapids with their two-year old daughter. Dr. Sohn will serve Wolfe Eye Clinic locations in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Cedar Falls and Marshalltown.
