Dr. R. Payson Moreland received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he was awarded the outstanding clinician of his class award at graduation. He earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Central College in Pella, Iowa. Dr. Moreland completed post-graduate residency training in ocular disease at the John Cochran Veteran’s Hospital in St. Louis where he gained extensive experience in management of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye care and cataract care.
In addition to routine eye care services such as annual examinations, eyeglasses and contact lens fittings; Dr. Moreland provides treatment and management of acute and chronic eye diseases such as cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, red eyes, and foreign body removal. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Iowa Optometric Association.
Outside of work, Dr. Moreland enjoys boating, skiing, and golfing. He and his wife Ellen have two sons.
