Meet Dr. Riley S. Bylund

Wolfe Eye Clinic is pleased to announce the addition of Riley S. Bylund, M.D. joining our Iowa Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery Fellowship team. Dr. Bylund recently joined us in July of 2023 and will work alongside our retina doctors for a 24 -month surgical and medical retina fellowship based in our West Des Moines office.

Fellowships at Wolfe Eye Clinic provide a collegial atmosphere in a busy retina clinic where Dr. Bylund will be able to participate in medical and surgical care for our retina patients. He will participate in surgical cases and retinal disease care for macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal detachments and macular holes. In addition to the hands-on care to retina patients Dr. Bylund will directly participate in ongoing various industry- sponsored clinical trials in our active clinical research department.

Dr. Bylund has received a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and went on to complete a Doctor of Medicine degree at the Medical University of Kentucky in Lexington where he graduated with high honors. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Mason Eye Institute in Columbia, Missouri at the University of Missouri.

Outside of Wolfe Eye Clinic, Dr. Bylund enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, scuba diving, mountain biking, boating, and participating in endurance sports. He has competed in several cycling races and has completed the St. George Half Ironman competition. Dr. Bylund is excited to continue his education through Wolfe Eye Clinic’s fellowship program and meet many new patients along the way.
