Dr. Gildner received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. Following his graduation, David Gildner, OD returned to his home state of Iowa and joined James Snively, OD and Paul Rietz, OD in private practice in Wright County. Following Dr. Rietz’s retirement in 1986, Dr. Gildner continued to serve the communities of Clarion and Belmond and surrounding with Dr. Snively until 2013 when Snively retired. In 2022, Dr. Gildner merged his Clarion and Belmond offices with Wolfe Eye Clinic, shifting his focus to the Belmond location and welcoming Dr. Megan Petersen to the Clarion location.

Dr. Gildner is excited to continue to serve his patients in the Belmond community and help them achieve the best vision possible. He credits his choice of optometry to his family optometrist growing up. When visiting his eye doctor, he was asked what his future plans were. At the time, Dr. Gildner did not have any definite plans in place, and that is when his eye doctor suggested for him to pursue optometry. Outside of work, you might find Dr. Gildner and his wife visiting their grandchildren or out walking, hiking, or riding their bikes.
