DR. STEVEN C. JOHNSON – DES MOINES LASIK, CATARACT AND CORNEA SPECIALIST

Steven C. Johnson, M.D., is a board-certified and fellowship-trained LASIK and cataract specialist. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, he completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of California, San Diego, in La Jolla, California where he was chief resident. He went on to complete a corneal and anterior segment surgery fellowship at the University of Connecticut in Mansfield, Connecticut.

During the course of his fellowship in the late 1980s, Dr. Johnson worked on one of the first excimer laser prototypes used for laser vision correction surgery in the United States. He was a principal clinical investigator on the Technolas Excimer Laser and studies of LASIK laser eye surgery and PRK refractive surgery. Given his experience, Dr. Johnson wrote a textbook chapter on the excimer laser and astigmatism, a refractive disorder in which the cornea is irregularly shaped.

Dr. Johnson has been seeing patients with Wolfe Eye Clinic since 1991 and enjoys helping his patients meet their vision goals.
