Meet Dr. Connor J Ericksen

Wolfe Eye Clinic is pleased to announce the addition of Connor Ericksen, M.D. joining our Iowa Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery Fellowship team. Dr. Ericksen joined us in July of 2021 and will work alongside our retina doctors for a 24 -month surgical and medical retina fellowship based in our West Des Moines office.

Fellowships at Wolfe Eye Clinic provide a collegial atmosphere in a busy retina clinic where Dr. Ericksen will be able to participate in medical and surgical care for our retina patients. He will participate in surgical cases and retinal disease care for macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal detachments and macular holes. In addition to the hands-on care to retina patients Dr. Ericksen will directly participate in ongoing various industry- sponsored clinical trials in our active clinical research department.

Fascinated by the eye and ocular surgery Dr. Ericksen tells us he chose the path of ophthalmology with focus on the retina as there is an abundance of real and serious pathology that can be blinding for patients. Dr. Ericksen went on to say that making a real difference in reversing or halting the progression of severe visual disability and helping patients improve their quality of life is what he enjoys most about his work.

“The most rewarding part of this job is being able to offer medical or surgical services that can change a patient from hand motion vision to reading the 20/25 line” said Dr. Ericksen.“ I chose Wolfe Eye Clinic for their local and national reputation and I look forward to the next two years here in Iowa.”

Dr. Ericksen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Developmental Biology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah followed by his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia. He completed his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina/Ralph Johnson VAMC in Charleston, South Carolina.

Dr. Ericksen has contributed to many published research papers and presented numerous oral presentations. He was the recipient of the Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award in 2018 and the Collaborative Learning Award in 2017.

In his free time Dr. Ericksen enjoys bike riding, skiing, and spending time with his wife and two-year old daughter.
