Wolfe Eye Clinic Announces a Second Location Approved for Pediatric Eye Disease Research!

Wolfe Eye Clinic is proud to announce the addition of a second Iowa location as a certified site for the Pediatric Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG). Dr. Anne Langguth | Cedar Rapids Pediatric Eye DoctorThe newest approval is for our Hiawatha (Cedar Rapids) location, and in large part thanks to Dr. Anne M. Langguth, pediatric ophthalmologist who will be the Principal Investigator. This approval will allow Dr. Langguth and her team to participate in ophthalmology research designed to provide the highest-quality vision outcomes for children.

The Pediatric Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG) was formed in 1997 by the National Eye Institute and is a collaborative network dedicated in clinical research in strabismus, amblyopia and other eye disorders that affect children. Wolfe Eye Clinic in Hiawatha joins our West Des Moines location and 300 other pediatric ophthalmologists and optometrists across 100 sites participating in PEDIG research throughout the United Sates, Canada and United Kingdom. Wolfe Eye Clinic prides itself on helping to advance the field of pediatric ophthalmology with some of the best pediatric ophthalmologists in Iowa.

The PEDIG certification process involves significant training and an in-depth review of a clinic site by the PEDIG team. Dr. Langguth, along with assistance from the Wolfe Eye Clinic Hiawatha staff, spent countless hours preparing for the certification and couldn’t be more excited with being able to obtain certification smoothly.

“I look forward to seeing what the future holds for treating amblyopia and strabismus; being a part of the PEDIG collaborative network gives us a leg up in finding the keys to unlock a lifetime of great vision.” said Anne Langguth, MD.

Langguth is a board- certified pediatric ophthalmologist and strabismus specialist at Wolfe Eye Clinic. She provides care for patients with childhood eye disorders or eye problems, as well as strabismus in adults and children. She has been seeing patients with Wolfe Eye Clinic since 2019 in our Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Waterloo offices. Learn more about her here!

Currently, Dr. Derek P. Bitner and team are actively participating in numerous ongoing clinical research projects with our West Des Moines office.
