DR. RYAN D. VINCENT – OTTUMWA GLAUCOMA SPECIALIST

Ryan D. Vincent, M.D. is a board-certified and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. He has been seeing patients with Wolfe Eye Clinic since 2014. Dr. Vincent received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and Master of Science degree in anatomy at Colorado State University. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Colorado and Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Denver, Colorado. Following completion of an ophthalmology residency as Chief Resident at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Medicine, Dr. Vincent completed a Clinical Glaucoma Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Vincent has greatly contributed to the ophthalmology medical field throughout his career. Prior to joining Wolfe Eye Clinic, Dr. Vincent was Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he trained residents in cataract and glaucoma surgery. He has published ophthalmology related articles and scientific papers on a variety of subjects including sedation considerations during cataract surgery, topical medical therapy and trabeculectomy in addition to co-authoring the glaucoma chapter for the Chern Ophthalmology Review Manual. Dr. Vincent has also presented numerous lectures on glaucoma, and particularly enjoys training medical students and residents.

Dr. Vincent is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, the Iowa Academy of Ophthalmology, and is Board-Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. In 2019, he traveled to Jamaica on a medical mission trip to help provide glaucoma and cataract surgery to local residents. They successfully reduced the local wait list by six months. Dr. Vincent sees patients at Wolfe Eye Clinic in Marshalltown, Des Moines, Ottumwa and Pleasant Hill.

Dr. Vincent always knew he wanted to be a surgeon. After seeing a presentation by an ophthalmologist during his medical education, he was immediately drawn to the ophthalmology specialty. Specifically, Dr. Vincent enjoys the ability to use ever-evolving ophthalmic technology to help improve or preserve patients’ vision. Outside of work, you will find Dr. Vincent spending time with family and friends. He enjoys the outdoors and traveling to new places.
